How did I get here?
I consider myself a policy generalist and doing work that makes an impact at a system-level has always been important to me. As a second-gen person of colour, the pandemic shone a light on the ways marginalized communities continue to be left behind in policy decisions. Graduating in the midst of this really inspired me to pursue policy work for social impact. I started by working in education and employment and a year later, I was ready to contribute to change in a different way. I discovered the NORC Innovation Centre at OpenLab and was (and still am) so excited at the opportunity of working with a truly interdisciplinary team. It’s been amazing getting to learn from one another.
