Prediction Rule

The goal of the Prediction Rule project is to predict which patients may become high users of the Health Care System, before they become high users.  This project  will leverage the rich data contained in the EMRs of primary care providers using both data field and text analysis to define a predictive algorithm.  Many of the prediction rules that exist use data that can only be acquired from large demographic data sets.  Additionally, they are often predicting the risk of recurrent use rather than pre-emptive prediction with the possibility of pre-emptive intervention.  The Project is a unique collaboration between OpenLab, ICES, University of Toronto mathematicians, and the Toronto Western Hospital Family Health Team.
